Raco Ibiza

The Silent Star of Ibiza

A guest swimming in the pool at the stunning Es Raco Hotel & Restaurant, Ibiza

As with many parts of Ibiza – from the hilly forests of the north to the views of Es Vedrà in the south – it is easy to feel like you have passed into another world. Even more so if you catch them at sunset, when the sky becomes pink and suddenly you’re Alice in Wonderland. Like so many, Ibiza has been a constant in my life, woven through the different chapters and 25 years on, it still manages to surprise me.

Meet Raco Ibiza. A Californian-postcard-sexy pool club and hotel straight out of a vintage dream. Retro swirled loungers, candy yellow-striped towels, and giant green parasols surrounded by swaying palms and manicured rose gardens. Right in the heart of the island, in Ibiza's serene countryside just outside San Rafael, here you’ll find everything you need to escape and feel at home at the same time. A secret paradise, a feast for the senses and clearly Ibiza’s best kept secret. If you’re looking for beige - this isn’t the place for you.

The owners Regine and Diego are what gives Raco Ibiza, and everything about it, its soul. Regine has a way of making you feel like you’ve arrived somewhere you were always meant to be. “Most of the guests here”, she says, “are residents who return season after season” — it’s their second home, and now I understand why.

Ahh, and the food. The menu is a passport to flavours from around the world—from the delicate notes of Japan to the punchy spices of India. Each dish takes you somewhere new, while remaining rooted in healthy cooking and the freshest local ingredients.  It’s the kind of food that satisfies both your wanderlust and your wellness and served by staff who can never do enough.

Book a bed by the pool and pray for time to slow down. Order cocktails, sip them slowly. Love is in the air. Stay the night, stay for two - or better yet stay forever.

I sat down with Regine to talk about how this dreamlike retreat came to life, what makes Es Raco feel like a second home for so many, and the unique energy that keeps guests coming back season after season

The Silent Star of Ibiza

1. Firstly, how are you? Give me the long answer!

We are very well. We’ve been traveling around Asia for four months, finishing with 45 days in Japan every winter—it’s so fantastic.

2. Tell me about your earlier years—where did you grow up, and how did you end up in Ibiza?

I grew up in France and arrived in Ibiza in 1989. My husband, Diego, was born in Argentina and came to Ibiza in 1998. Back then, Ibiza was truly paradise—freedom, love, and everyone was so beautiful and kind. Life was very easy, and there was nothing—no shops, no beach clubs, just Pacha Club.

3. What was the inspiration behind Es Racó?

Over the last 15 years, Ibiza has changed a lot, and we decided to create a space that embodies the true Ibiza spirit—a place where we would love to spend our own days off or holidays.

4. You have created something magical. What’s your secret?

Both of us are truly from Ibiza, and we’re not commercial people. We do everything with our hearts, and we love when our guests feel at home.

We appreciate every day of our way of living. We love our venue, and all the clients who come to our place are so nice and respectful. It’s like an oasis in this new world. When you’re surrounded by beautiful people, it’s easy to find wisdom and build beautiful relationships.

6. What are your professional and personal dreams for the future?
