Pacha Hotel, Ibiza

The most surprising and long-overdue stay at the island’s most iconic address

El Hotel Pacha in Ibiza

I’ve been coming to Ibiza for over a decade (ahh so old!) and long enough to have witnessed the shifting rhythms of the White Isle, from barefoot raving at bora-Bora to chic farm-to-table dinners and back again. And like many regulars, I’ve danced beneath the cherries of Pacha more times than I can count. But for all my years of island escapades, I’d somehow never stayed at Pacha Hotel. So when I finally checked in this summer for 2 nights, it felt like correcting a long-standing oversight.

From the outside the hotel looks every bit the party-centric landmark you’d expect. The glowing signage, sleek white architecture, and that unmistakable logo. But step through the doors, and the mood changes. The lobby is surprisingly calm, with pared-back minimalist interiors that we love so much about the Balearics to cream walls and subtle nods to the island’s bohemian past. There’s some fruity art, soft lighting, and a gentle buzz of life. Not what I expected at all. The vibe is super chic but unpretentious. In a town where maximalism is often the default, Pacha Hotel  whispers.

One of the main draws, of course, is location. Marina Botafoch, just a short walk to town, home to designer boutiques, yacht-docked restaurants, and low-key luxe hangouts, is just around the corner. Ibiza Town, with its castle-crowned skyline and charming tangle of streets, is a 20-minute waterfront walk away. And the club? Let’s just say it’s closer than your kettle at home. (yessssss!!!).

My suite was enormous and utterly luxurious. I mean, properly spacious, with a balcony, huge bed, vast open wardrobe and more mirror than even the most Instagram-savvy traveller could need. The shower was super-power, the palette soft and neutral (ideal for post-party recovery) and the towels, gowns and slippers beyond comfortable.

The minibar was well-stocked and blackout curtains and air con delivered exactly what I needed after dancing until dawn. And it has to be said: waking up late and watching the light shift across the Marina from your bed is its own kind of magic.

The pool here is perfect for some light dipping and sipping. A modest rectangle set among big double snuggle sunbeds but it does the trick when you need to cool off before heading. Modern, clean, fresh, deep and so very relaxing that myself and my partner fell asleep in minutes.

Breakfast is served until 11am, something every Ibiza hotel should adopt. The buffet leans indulgent: pancakes, pastries, even macarons and sweets!  There are some more sensible options (eggs, meats, cheeses), but if you’ve just rolled in from Sundays with Soloman, no judgement for starting your day with a donut and a very strong coffee.

For lunch or dinner, the ground-floor restaurant offers a small à la carte menu, pasta, pizza, steak, lobster and anything you might want that’s not exactly what you see can be whipped up by the kitchen team who are sincerely eager to please. We had Lobster and salad and it was exactly what the Dr ordered. It doesn’t pitch itself as a foodie destination, but I see no reason why it couldn't.

Now for my favourite part: the staff. They were unfailingly warm. Ibiza service can sometimes lean a little too far into the aloof or overly efficient, but here, the energy was spot on. Friendly greetings, helpful tips, and that elusive balance between cool and kind, that’s harder to pull off than it looks. I could name every team member we met; as we left, numbers were exchanged and promises of future visits made. These are simply some of the most delightful humans I’ve encountered, and I’m leaving full of thanks and love.

This stay turned out to be one of the most unexpected and delightful surprises I've ever had in Ibiza. I had braced myself for sleepless nights soundtracked by basslines bleeding through the walls, over-excited twenty-somethings commandeering the poolside with booming playlists, and a general air of chaotic revelry. But none of that ever materialised. Instead, El Pacha unfolded as a genuine oasis of calm, sophisticated, serene, and surprisingly soulful. Every detail hit the right note: the genuinely warm staff, the thoughtful food, the cool, quiet pool, and a bed so heavenly I considered asking for the mattress brand. Add in that unbeatable location and you have a rare kind of island magic. wWhere pleasure, peace and a sense of place all meet under one roof.
